A Wine Experience Like No Other
Join Dean Hewitson at the Boston Wine Festival as he shares his passion for creating exquisite wines that combine Old-World traditions with New-World fruit purity from some of the oldest vines on planet Earth.
Situated in Barossa Valley, Australia, Hewitson makes its home among some of the oldest dry-grown vineyards in the world, dating back to the middle of the 19th century and pre-Phylloxera. Hailed as the “Barossa Valley Specialist,” Dean earned his winemaking degree at Australia’s world-famous Roseworthy Agricultural College followed by a decade in one of Australia’s leading wineries and vintages in France, visiting many diverse regions including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Beaujolais, The Rhone, and Provence. Here he gained considerable knowledge in Old-World winemaking techniques. Dean has also studied at the renowned UC Davis, California, where he completed his master’s in winemaking. While here, he toured the West Coast of the United States, visiting and working in regions such as Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Oregon, and Washington State.
Dean believes great wines are the expression of the soils they are grown in and the season they are grown. It naturally follows that many of Dean’s wines are single vineyard. They possess those qualities that make great wine: balance, structure, concentration, power, and breeding.
